Members must be Senior Chaplains: in good standing for a period of no less than 12 months before applying to become an tax exempt public charity under the affiliate subordinate ministry program of CFMI.

Membership with CFMI does not mean a member's ministry will be automatically approved. Members requesting to be covered must have a real existing physical ministry, not a Internet ministry. Furthermore Chaplain Fellowship Ministries is a public charity and cannot cover churches, bible colleges or universities under our group exemption. Contrary to what many may tell you, becoming a 501 (c) 3 tax exempt public charity is not easy to obtain. Becoming an affiliate subordinate ministry under Chaplain Fellowship Ministries is a privilege, not an automatic right of membership.

Note: No member or ministry will be covered unless they meet the established requirements and standards of the governing board of directors of Chaplain Fellowship Ministries and be in compliance with the rules, regulations and guidelines established by the Internal Revenue Service governing 501 (c) 3 tax exempt public charities. There will be no exceptions!

Members applying to become an affiliate subordinate ministry are required to complete five virtual training courses provided by the IRS before they will be considered as an affiliate subordinate ministry. The online training provides the tools and knowledge to help keep organization’s exempt status intact. See the link below titled Virtual Workshop for details. Once you've completed each course, be sure to take the evaluation survey, which will allow you to print a certificate of completion for the courses, copies of all five certificates must be sent to the home office.

Loss of exempt status: Affiliate subordinate ministries who are found to be dishonest regarding their ministry income and do not file their quarterly financial reports with the home office will lose their tax exempt status and be removed from the program. Chaplain Fellowship Ministries does everything possible to help our affiliate subordinate ministries, for that reason Chaplain Fellowship has adopted a zero tolerance policy regarding wrong doing or dishonesty of any kind.

Romans 13: 3-5 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. For he is God’s servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God’s servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience.
