Chaplains
News and Field Reports! ( Page 4)
Senior Chaplain David Ray Reporting In
From Michigan: Just wanted to let
everyone know what's been going on lately with the food ministry.
In the past few weeks we've had the privilege to help Chaplain Russ
Farmer set up a food ministry in California, also helped Bishop
C.J.Sadler of Church of God, Quincy, Michigan start food ministry,
and Pastor Fred Oliver of Church of God, Tecumseh, Michigan start
food ministry. We average 5 to 7 families a week who needs our help
with food, clothing, & toys. A pastor friend of mine has said
he would pay for the fuel & shipping costs to take a semi-load
of food to needy families in Kentucky where he's from. That's in
the near future by God's Grace! We pray everyday for the Lord to
bless us to be a blessing to others, and slowly, little by little
God is granding our prayers ! Also, next month my wife LaVonna,
our ministry vice-president & I will be attending a Church of
God pastors conference to better reach people to help not only their
physical needs but their spiritual needs too. Never too old to learn
more !! So, keep looking up ! and keep going forward spreading the
"good news" of Jesus Christ ! God bless our chaplains
& Chaplain Fellowship Ministries. From Senior Chaplain David
L. Ray
Senior
Chaplain Jeff Russell Reporting in from Philadelphia: Senior
Chaplain Jeff Russell from Philadelphia recently attended the monthly
Pastoral Development Program for Veterans suffering from PTSD. The
seminar was held at the Hospital University of Pa. in Philadelphia.
HUP is one of the nation's leaders in incorporating holistic care
as part of the medical protocol regime for their patients. As a
result of his participation and expertise, Chaplain Russell was
asked to consult and consider endorsement of a new PTSD training
curriculum as part of the Pastoral Care Development Program at CUP.
He is working closely with the Pastoral Care Director's Office as
well as Ms. Dana Greenberg, a noted researcher and program development
expert who is currently working with the Dept of Navy on PTSD issues.
Chaplain Russell can be reached at jeffruss61@yahoo.com
Senior Chaplain Anthony Pursser Reporting In from Georgia:
Field Report From Dacula GA.wanted to take the time to post the
results of our 2007 National Guard Christmas fund drive. This year
we had over 360 children that needed someone to stand up and make
their Christmas wishes come true. Ministry To Military was able
to meet the needs of 112 of these children. This total is above
and beyond what the national guard originally ask of us, and is
double the number of children we were able to assist last year.
I want to thank everyone who gave to this annual event. If it weren't
for the kindness of those who gave we would not be able to make
this happen each year. The below links show a couple of pictures
of the toys that were able to be purchased for the children this
year. Photo

Chief Chaplain Gibson Reporting with ministry news: We received
the following email from Chaplain Marilyn Nase and Chaplain Dan
Nase. Many of you have called, sent emails and get well cards with
prayers and words of encouragement these past months and we want
you to know how much we love and appreciate you for your care and
concern for Dans health. We were blessed by so many friends
who helped us by putting us up in Gainesville, hospital visits,
rides to doctors appointments, bringing over food, mowing the yard,
delivering firewood and inviting us to dinner. Everyone has been
wonderful and well never be able to thank you enough. The good
news is that all of your prayers have been answered and God in His
mercy healed Dan of the nasty bacteria that had been so resistant
to the antibiotics. Hes been fighting this infection since
August when he was first hospitalized and finally got the all
clear sign last Thursday when the doctor at the VA Hospital
in Gainesville gave us the pathology results as being all negative
on the lab tests for bacteria. He will continue on the medication
for precautionary reasons until Jan. 4th. At that time the PICC
line will be removed and he will be completely free of tubes.
This has been quite an experience for both of us. What a wonderful
Christmas present and a great way to begin the New Year. Needless
to say, were thrilled and it was difficult not doing the Dance
of Joy in the hospital waiting room when the doctor pronounced
him healed. Praise God!!! Thank you and God bless you.
Sincerely in Christ, Chaplain Marilyn Nase and Chaplain Dan Nase.
Master
Chaplain Tommy Davis Reporting In from New York: It is a wonderful
blessing to be able to see another year in this hostile world whereas
the Gospel of Jesus Christ have allowed us to shine bright like
the starry hosts of heaven.I have reserved the fellowship hall at
the Victory Baptist Church in Henrietta (Rochester) New York at
32 Wilbriar Road for us to have a general meeting on January 26th
(Saturday) from 1:00pm to 4:00 pm. We have new chaplains who have
come aboard and it is my desire for us to come together and meet
one another and share what the Lord is doing in each others' lives.
We are having an impact on our community as believers in Christ. For
this year, since we are growing in numbers, there is a need for
ambassadors for Christ to serve our public agencies (firemen, police,
veterans, etc.). Also, there is a great need for state prison ministry.
These are some of the topics that we will discuss at our meeting. As
we already know, one person cannot do everything. Thus, if each
chaplain finds their area of calling in field ministry and operate
primarily in that fashion, we can have a more collective impression
and advance the Gospel.Another important issue that we must address
is our personal testimony of integrity. It is certain that we will
make mistakes, but when people see a change or a representation
of Christ displayed in our lives, we leave the world without an
excuse and can cause some to trust in Christ as their Lord and Savior.
I mention this because some of you were personally recommended by
me for your ministerial credential and all of our members are effected
if one of us move into ethical and moral violations. Not only are
we upholding Chaplain Fellowship Ministries, we want to stand together
with the whole body of Christ as believers who reflect the character
of Christ (fruit of the Spirit) and preach the Gospel with our very
lives. I am looking forward to this meeting (especially the doughnuts
and coffee) so others can know what you are doing and make connections
if need be. Lastly, I would also like to discuss when should we
have meetings (quarterly, twice per year?, etc.) and where, if some
will volunteer their church. Feel free to call me if you need directions.
Be blessed.Your servant,Chaplain Tommy David
Senior
Chaplain Terry Wildman Reporting in From Missouri: I am now
visiting farmington mo. state prison and have been in contact with
the federal prison is charleston,mo. I am also working with some
of the guys from the gibson center which is a local rehabilitation
facility here in cape girardeau, and visiting fountain blue nursing
home and lutheran home. I have a bible study group every other saturday

Senior
Chaplain Gregory Wilhite Reporting in From Germany:
I
am meeting regularly with the wounded soldiers coming in from Iraq
and doing an ever increasing amount of family counseling. I am working
with the local military chaplains as well as a couple of civilian
churches implementing small groups for military families. I'm using
Family Life's "Homebuilders curriculum with great success.
So far so good. We have started a Christian music library for the
wounded soldiers and an Iraqi Child Toy closet. So things are going
well...very busy but well. I sent out some donation request cards
to some of my old ministry contacts and churches I worked with in
the past....so pray that the Lord will help out in that area. So
far Kelly and I have been using our own money to fund everything
and you know how that can be...especially on our one income. But,
I'm sure the Lord will provide. Thanks again, you guys have kept
me going and just knowing that I'm not here alone means a lot. I
hope that you and everyone at home has a blessed Christmas. In His
Service, Chaplain Gregory Wilhite
Master
Chaplain Tommy Davis Reporting In from New York: Chaplain
Davis has accepted an offer to write for the Rochester Conservative,
a political and free market (capitalists) ezine. The chief editor
is a fan of his published works in the Democrat and Chronicle and
offered him the position of contributing editor (author status).
Chaplain Davis has accepted. As many of you know, Chaplain Davis
is highly conservative and does support a free-market economy and
the "free exercise of religion." Chaplain Davis believes
that Less government and low taxes always fuel economic growth when
more responsible citizens are allowed to compete through fair labor
and trade. Also, when religious freedom isn't abridged, peopel are
allowed to see the fruit of beliefs, thereby making it easier for
people to make informed decisions when joining a religious organization.
I pray that I am able to transfer some godly intellectual capital
to the readers. Be blessed Chaplain Davis
Senior
Chaplain Jeff Russell reporting in From Philadelphia:
Chaplain Russell and a team of 28 missionaries went to LaPaz Mexico.
Unlike the United States, Mexico is a land bereft with corruption
of every sort. LaPaz is located on the Baha Peninsula at the very
bottom on the Sea of Cortez. Our program was so secret that only
the governor of the province knew its location. That is because
the greatest perpetrators of domestic violence against women are
the military and police. Our group was asked to come and assist
to build a safe house for battered women. The safe house was constructed
in the middle of the desert. We had to use elementary construction
applications including human chains to deliver cement, rocks and
building supplies. It was an exercise in 19th century constructions
techniques. We started each morning at 4:am when it was a balmy
90 degrees out. By 10:am it was close to 100 - 105 degrees in the
desert sun. Our work day tapered off at 12 noon and then it was
off to Vacation Bible School. The children of Mexico are beautiful.
We set up our vacation bible program in the middle of a community
which just one week before the military had raided and a number
of drug producers were killed and wounded. We were in the middle
of cartel country... but the Word went out and the Gospel was shared.
Master
Chaplain Tommy Davis Reporting In from New York: We
have just recruited the admissions director Louis Colon at Northeastern
Seminary on the Campus of Roberts Wesleyan College. He will be sending
his application along with my letter very soon. Now we will be able
to get possible more military, hospital and prison chaplains on
board. The people who attend this school are all going for either
a Master or Doctorate. God Bless Chaplain Davis
Master
Chaplain Larry Todd Reporting in From Texas: I did the invocation
at the National Inspectors General Conference at the Hyatt. They
had 124 top cops from all over including Hawaii and New York. It
went well...right after that, I got a call from a lady who work
for a state agency. Her division has pledged to raise food for homeless
veterans. What a great deal. Chaplain Todd
Senior Chaplain Lea Billingsley Reporting in From Sadr City Baghdad
Iraq: Just letting you know I am doing just fine. I am in Sadr
City Baghdad and all has been well. We have not (knock on wood it
stays this way) been hit by any roadside bombs. A coalition force
near us two days ago got hit by a huge one, in one of the varied
travel areas we travel daily. We have been shot at a few times by
small arms fire, but I am with an Airborne MP unit out of FT Bragg
so they are doing most of the "fighting" and I just assist
as or if needed. I pray each time we go out to mentor the Iraqi
police. I have two police stations that I train and they are coming
along great. When I got here I had one day to rest and the next
day it was off to work..cool ....that is what I came here to do....I
have really gained the trust of my station's police officers and
they seem to like it when I come in the door.....the gave me a new
name "Obcee" means great black fighter and teacher and
bringer of joy and laughter....anyway. ...just letting you know
all is just fine.....I was getting ready to go out on mission but
found out I have the day off....so I guess I will do a power point
slide show or something today.....well you all take care, say hi
to the Chaplains and those on the west side for me....talk with
you later....God Bless Chaplain
Lea Billingsley
Senior
Chaplain Jeff Russell Reporting in From Philadelphia: I became
a member of CFMI almost 6 months ago. I currently serve as the facility
chaplain for the Philadelphia Prison System, Detention Center. I
work with a population of over 1,400 inmates as well as a full contingent
of staff and volunteers. One of the most rewarding blessings, (and
there are many) is working with the islamic community and sharing
the Gospel message in a light that creates wonder and awe. Now that
November is finally here I also serve as a minister with a program
called "Connect By Night" which is a homeless outreach
where 12 churches open their doors year round to feed, bed and provide
compassion ministry to those less fortunate. And as always, while
we seek to serve it is more the case that these wonderful street
people bless our lives in ways in which it is difficult to think
that we have anything real to offer. CFMI is each of us. I am proud
to be affiliated with a great group of Christ centered servants.
I have adopted CFMI apparel and have designed both a Summer and
Fall uniform. When I enter those institutions where I serve and
people see the CFMI crest, insignia or sanctioned badge it opens
up doors and generates interest. It would be great to get together
with other local members in NJ, De and Pa.
Master Chaplain Arthur Martinez Reporting in From New Mexico:
I am honored to announce that Chaplain Fellowship Ministries as
of October the 19th is now officially listed in a phone book for
Christians only, there is no charge to our Ministries for this service.
The area it covers is hundreds of mile, from the city of Alb, north
all the way to the south, which includes the city's in the Rio Grande
Valley, Belen. Los Lunas, Los Chavez ,Tome, Bosque and many more,
to many to list. I have been in talks with the publisher for two
years now and we finally got our listing. And some say God does
not answer prayers. The cost to us here in New Mexico is zero, nothing,
it is a free service for us. Chaplain Fellowship Ministries made
a good impression on the publisher and that is how we got to where
we are finally. This will give the State of New Mexico great exposure
and I pray that we will gain some of Gods warriors to push on into
the future and beyond, folks whom truly want to do Gods works. I
cannot begin to tell you how proud I am of God's ministry and all
the dedicated men and women that serve in His ministry. God's Blessings
to all my brothers and sisters in CFMI. Respectfully submitted,
Master Chaplain Arthur J Martinez, New Mexico State Director,
Deputy Chief of Disaster Deployments.
Master
Chaplain Tommy Davis Reporting In from New York: Pretty
soon we will be working with the US Attorney's office through the
Rochester Police Department regarding a Safe Surrender Program in
which wanted fugitives will turn themselves in. We are currently
planning on the program for next April. Fugitives will surrender
at the hands of the clergy in hopes to avoid confrontation and quell
fear. I hope the program works. I shared my testimony with the US
Marshall we are currently working with because we believe that God
will work miracles in all our lives if we surrender to Him as well.
The marshal was inspired by my testimony and I was inspired by his
willingness to present the Gospel to people turning themselves in.
Senior Chaplain Jonathan Winski Reporting In from Wisconsin:
I have been blessed with my position as Department Chaplain
for the Cambridge Area EMS; a truly heroic but humble crew of very
dedicated men and women. I found this position as I was looking
for a position in law enforcement chaplaincy and took God's path
and, of course have been very happy. Still working as a reserve
police officer, I just completed my training and received certification
as a Hostage Negotiator and as a Crisis Interventionist in September.
Then, at my certificate presentation at the end of training, we
announced my acceptance as the Chaplain for the International Association
of Hostage Negotiators! The director approached me after we talked
between training sessions and asked if I would like to serve as
their chaplain and work in their support section. God has blessed
me with the opportunity to serve such brave individuals that dedicate
their lives to saving others. Pray for me, that I may continue to
see the path God puts before me; that I may be His instrument and
do His work as He would have it be done. Thanks be to the Lord for
leading me; I'm thankful that I followed. May God bless you and
may you follow His light.
Senior
Chaplain David Ray Reporting In from Michigan: Southern Michigan
Crisis Ministries has been feeding on an average of 4 to 5 families
a week besides donating clothing and toys. I have found out that
a "crisis" could be anything that brings turmoil into
peoples lives. This past Friday a person I know came to me with
a problem with his drivers license about to be revoked because of
something he did 20 years ago in Florida. He went through drug rehab
and completed it, but he left before going back to court to verify
it. With computers crossing state lines they wanted him to verify
he completed drug rehab or Michigan would not renew his license
! I told him that I would see what I could do, I accessed the courthouse
in the county he had lived in and the Florida DMV for phone numbers.
I called both Monday, because of Chaplain Fellowship Ministries
reputation, I was able to get everything cleared up today Thurs.
He called to say he just got his license renewed ! Now I know what
the Apostle Paul meant by "all things to all people",
I thank God I was able to help him. We are more of a 'presence'
than most of us have ever thought ! God bless everyone at CFMI.
In HIS service, Senior Chaplain David Ray

Chaplain Tommy Davis Reporting in from New York: I was invited
to be a guest speaker at the Businessmen Breakfast in Hornell, NY.
I went to share my personal testimony and the listeners were blessed.
Just a little testimony goes a long way. I just had to be real.
I attached some photos too. It is always amazing how the Lord can
take little corrupt lives like mine and make some kind of use of
it. Picture

Chaplain Anthony Pursser reporting in from South Carolina:
On the 14th of August we attended a ministry fair at Fort Jackson
S.C to share with the Graduating class of 125 Chaplains what Ministry
to Military was all about. What an exciting time. The chaplains
were very excited to hear about what we are doing and are trying
to expand on doing. We also were able to share with Campus Crusade
for Christ Military Ministry and OCF two other outreach organizations.
Please keep us in prayer about these new exciting opportunities
the Lord is giving us. Closer to home we are hosting a DOD open
house at the Douglasville National Guard Armory this weekend, we
are expecting about 30 military families for the day so again the
Lord is leading us further out in deeper water. Praise the Lord.
We continue to hold worship service at the Lawrencevill National
Guard Armory on a monthly basis. I was not able to attend this month
due to a commitment to my Daughter but the minister that filled
in had a great turn out. We started with 3 attending in February
and we now have 10. Interestingly the minister had a wiccan attend
who wished to challenge him on some things. This was quickly put
to rest and service continued. With the nursing home ministry The
Lord is greatly blessing we currently have 25 folks attending worship
on a weekly basis. It is a challenge to prepare a sermon on a weekly
basis so all you pastors out there I truly lift you up in prayer.
God bless each of you in your service to our Lord and Savior. Stand
Strong

Blocking
Terrorist Funding: Treasury's Risk Matrix for the Charitable
Sector the Department of the Treasury has developed a resource to
help nonprofit ensure that their money funds charitable works and
not terrorism. Since September 11, 2001, the US government has investigated
and developed programs to prevent the use of charitable organizations
to finance terrorist operations. To support these efforts, in November
2002, the Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Asset Control
(OFAC) issued voluntary guidelines for charities working overseas;
revised guidelines were released in September 2006. This past March,
OFAC released a Risk Matrix for the Charitable Sector outlining
possible security threats. The risk matrix is intended to help charitable
organizations that deliver aid in high-risk areas understand and
comply with US sanctions programs.

Chaplain
Bruce Francis Reporting in for Chaplain Tancris Kusopila ( British
Columbia , Canada ): Just to inform you my progress since I
became a chaplain. I sensed the Lord wanted me to reach out to Congolese
immigrant in Vancouver . After a period of prayer and meditation
we started, Congolese Community Chaplaincy, as mean
of focuses in the spiritual as well as the emotional well being
of Congolese people. As most of African immigrant coming in Canada
are experiencing numerous difficulties of various magnitudes the
difficulties include culture shock, isolation, issues surrounding
integration, finally they end up living in isolation. Field reports:
Its almost a month since we started the program: Total families
(5), Total Bible distributed (10), 6 Swahili Bibles and 4 French
Bibles. Please keep our Chaplain in pray.
Chaplain Bill Park and Chaplain Bruce Gerstle Reporting in: (Virginia
Tech University) Chaplain Bruce Gerstle & Chaplain Bill
Park were deployed to Virginia Tech with the Billy Graham Rapid
Response Team. There were 6 others making up a team of 8 Chaplains.
A local church, Calvary Chapel of Roanoke had a number of "Host
Families" who were willing to put them up during their stay.
After arriving and meeting with their team leaders and coordinator,
Chaplain Gerstle and Chaplain Park headed over to the campus' drill
field and began searching out some of the police officers who were
stationed there. Some Virginia State Police Officers were sent there
after the massacre to help and assist the Campus Police, who were
actually the first responders. One trooper told us that when he entered
the building after the shooting, all he heard were the cell phones
ringing on the victim's bodies. The campus has approximately 40
police officers. In those 3 days, we were able to minister to members
of the Virginia State Police, Campus Police and the local police
of the town of Blacksburg, VA. We also prayed with numerous students,
faculty and administrators. One really cool note? Chaplain Bruce
had only 40 Police Bibles left over to give to the Campus Police
. It just so happened to be manned by a force of 40 Police officers!
God is awesome to provide the exact amount! We
were so blessed to be able to serve our Lord in that "valley
of the shadow of death" and to be able to encourage, and serve
those hurting people. The Christian groups on campus are really
rising to the occasion! We participated in a prayer vigil on Monday
with about 50-75 students from Campus Crusade for Christ. All the
people of that university were very happy and appreciative of all
the people who came to their aid to stand with them in support during
this sad time. In Christ, Chaplain Bill Park and Chaplain Bruce
Gerstle.
Chaplain Jerry Berry Reporting In: I started a Jail Ministry
last year after joining CFMI. God has blessed this little ministry
and answered prayers beyond belief ! I have just got a web site
up and it is still under construction. My son designed it, as well
as our logo. The inmates came up with the name and I evolved them
in the ministry as often as I can.
Chaplain
Anthony Pursser Reporting In: On
the weekend of 4/13/07 I attended the Georgia National Guards Family
Readiness Conference in Augusta Georgia as the executive director
of Ministry To Military Inc. I had many wonderful opportunities
to share how Ministry To Military is reaching out to the men and

Senior
Chaplain David Ray Reporting In: April 14th, 2007: Senior Chaplain
David Ray is the founder of Southern Michigan Crisis Ministries
an official affiliate ministry -- On April 13th,2007, Chaplain David
Ray & his ministry secretary Barrel Birth took a 24ft. Truck
to Feed The Children distribution center in Elkhart, Indiana to
pick up their allotment of 10 pallets of food for their food ministry.
Southern Michigan Crisis Ministries are a 'partner agency' with
them and about every 2 months they get free food to distribute to
the needy and single mothers & elderly that need help. Also,
Senior Chaplain David Ray and the members of Southern Michigan Crisis
Ministries are partnering with their church, Life in Christ--Sturgis
Church of God, Sturgis, MI. for April 15th,2007 for a "Movie
& Lunch Day" that is free to the public. They will be showing
the movie--"FACING THE GIANTS". It's about a high school
coach who turns to God for inspiration for himself & his team.
They are trying to do new things like this to not only feed the
body but, to 'feed' the soul also. Just as the Apostle Paul said,
we have to be all things to all men, to reach them for the cause
of Christ. God Bless, in His service, Senior Chaplain David Ray
Chaplain
Robert W. Bowen Reporting in: Training: I completed a course
that allows me to work with juvenile Fire setters. The course was
given at the New Hampshire Fire Academy in Concord, New Hampshire.
I also completed training with the Granite State Critical Incident
Stress Debriefing Team. I continue to do home visits weekly, attend
two weekend visits to our station on top of being a regular line
firefighter. I will be attending a course on fire investigation
for First Responders in June that will complement the fire setters
course. I assisted at a drowning in a nearby town and I was asked
to help with crises management. Ministry is forever ongoing no matter
where I go.

Shirley Johnson
Reporting In: I just wanted
to update you on my progress since I became a chaplain. I finished
CISM/CISD Group Training through International Critical Incident
Stress Foundation. I am in the application phase of our local Police
Department as a Volunteer Chaplain. I have become a member of the
ICPC and will be attending their training in June. Thank you for
the opportunity for me to become a chaplain. Since I am a Woman
in a Southern Baptist Church, I cannot be ordained through my own
faith. Your organization allows me to do the work I feel I am called
to do. From Mississippi, Chaplain Shirley Johnson
