James
1:22: But be ye doers of the Word, and not hearers
only, deceiving your own selves. "It is not about just talking
about the power of God, it is by putting His word into action.
Sharing
my humble thought on behalf of those who have called me over the
past 25 years with the following concerns: Folks over the years
I have spoken to literally thousands of people who called about
becoming a chaplain. The bikers always ask why would God call
someone like me into ministry, I am not worthy; I always ask them
who are they to question God. I have also heard the same comments
from many others from all walks of life. This is also my answer
to those who have called and said they would not minister to anyone
unless they were a Christian; sorry folks chaplains do not have
any choices as to who the Lord will put in their path. Those who
think that way need to become pastors, not chaplains. Let's look
at what Paul teaches us in scripture in 1 Corinthians on this
subject. Paul teaches that though I am free and belong to no man,
I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible.
To
the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under
the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not
under the law), so as to win those under the law. To those not
having the law I became like one not having the law (though I
am not free from God's law but am under Christ's law), so as to
win those not having the law. To the weak I became weak, to win
the weak. I have become ALL THINGS TO ALL men so that by all possible
means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel
that I may share in its blessings. Do you not know that in a race
all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such
a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games
goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will
not last; but WE DO IT to get a crown that will LAST FOREVER.
Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not
fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make
it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself
will not be disqualified for the prize. Folks please do not let
anyone stop you from following your calling in ministry, no matter
who they may be or what position they hold in ministry. Ministry
is not about control or putting the Lords' people in bondage.
There is only one savior!
